a musician's webcomic.
  • About Liszto

Liszto is, ehem, a parody of the modern musician. The character portraid in this webcomic is none other than the average indie artist that many of us might (or might not) know - or like, for that matter. Despite all that, however, his hopelessness and ambition to ‘make it’ moves us in one way or another. Whether we find it amusing or sad or inspiring, we are stimulated by the story and life of this peculiar individual.

  • About Carey

Carey is Liszto's girlfriend and his biggest critic. Her caracter not only represents his only tie to reality but she is also the total opposite of him. While she doesn't much care for the dreamworld that our main character is living in, she seems to be a lot more talented artist and musician than he is - though she never played in a band.
She is an activist and works as a journalist for the local newspaper.

  • About Franz Liszt

Franz Liszt was a 19th century Hungarian composer and the obsession of Liszto's parents. They hoped that by naming their son this way, he would inherit the musical talents of the renowned composer. Liszt was said by his contemporaries to have been the most technically advanced pianist of his age and perhaps the greatest pianist of all time. In 1841 the poet Heinrich Heine coined the term Lisztomania to describe the intense fan frenzy directed toward Liszt's performances.

    Liszto

Liszto is a webcomic drawn by Kinga Ötvös, a passionate illustrator from Transylvania.

The idea for the comic came in 2010, when she had been proposed to draw a caricature to help promote the Indie Folker musical project. Since the sketches were so well received, the initial collaboration grew into this full scale project, and everybody involved couldn’t be happier.

So thanks for stopping by, and come back often!
